About La Diosa Mar
I acquired La Diosa Mar in October of 2025. She is a 2001 Catalina 36 MkII and based at Gloucester Point, Virginia, on the Chesapeake Bay. Her life with me began as a project boat and I have been been steadily restoring, improving, and preparing her for the adventures ahead.
After a career in engineering and product development, I have turned to a very different way of living where the peacefulness and serenity of sailing is the centerpiece. La Diosa Mar (“Sea Goddess”) represents more than a sailboat. It is a way of life—one that values experiences over schedules, sunsets over deadlines, and the freedom to cast off whenever the weather is right.
The other key component of my life these days is Major, my Shetland Sheepdog. Together, we embark on adventures—one harbor, one anchorage, and one story at a time.
My goal here is simple: to explore the Chesapeake Bay, share its remarkable places, document the ongoing evolution of the boat, and encourage others to discover adventures of their own.
Whether you're an experienced sailor, dreaming of buying your first boat, or simply enjoy life on the water, welcome aboard.
I hope you'll join us for the journey.
